Wine

Lambert de Seyssel Petit Royal

I used this lovely sparkling wine from the Savoie for my wedding celebration. Lucky for us, there is still some available. Get it while you can.

Scarpetta Prosecco

We bring Prosecco out for any excuse to celebrate.
It’s simpler than Champagne and infinitely better then most sparkling wines costing much more.
There is “meh” Prosecco and there is beautifully dry and aromatic Prosecco, this is the latter.
 Try it, you’ll love it.

Aval French Cider

There are few beverages more refreshing than dry, hard cider. This version from Brittany is both
crisp and delicate, with lively dry fruit and a lovely mineral driven finish. Feeling adventurous? Try a Breton Kir, a lovely drink combining French cider, creme de cassis and a dash of Calvados.

Domaine Michel Barraud 2021 Mâcon-Villages

Mâcon-Villages can be a delicious little quaffer or flat, watery, insipid Chardonnay…basically not so
hot. This version is definitely on the delicious side with vibrant, crisp fruit. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel and employs sustainable farming practices. It’s ready to pair up with
just about any fish or vegetable dish you choose. Absolutely sublime.

Domaine de Reuilly 2021 Reuilly Les Fossiles Blanc

I just adore the wines from the Loire and this compelling Sauvignon Blanc is no different. Intense tart citrus flavors of grapefruit and lime zest are layered with a stony minerality. As written by Kermit Lynch, “Imagine Sauvignon Blanc grown in Chablis.” This winery has been organic since 2011 and utilizes biodynamic practices.

Pullus NV Haložan Orange Wine

This orange, skin contact wine is great introduction for those starting to explore the category. The wine is a blend with stone fruit flavors followed by a refreshing acidity. The Slovenian winery was started in 1239, so you can imagine they know what they are doing, especially using the ancient method of skin contact fermentation. Added bonus, it’s a liter bottle!

Hecht & Bannier 2022 Languedoc Rosé
I dare say the Rosés from Languedoc tend to be among my favorite, affordable wines .This offering is from Hecht & Bannier, negotiants extraordinaire. A blend of the usual grape varietals, mainly Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, the wine is redolent of red fruit, red raspberry, red currant and tart strawberry. It’s absolutely perfect for Springtime quaffing

Swanson Vineyards 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

A lovely wine from renowned Napa Valley winery is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot. This is an accessible wine with dark, black fruit, a little new oak and the remainder used barrel. The wine has a long, luxurious and silky finish.
A real Cabernet crowd pleaser.

Field Recordings 2021 Pinot Noir Edna Valley

We are sad to say goodbye to our collaboration with Peter Rosbeck of Sineann, but also excited
to team up with Andrew Jones of Field Recordings. This Edna Valley Pinot Noir is a fantastic pairing with Winds Cafe dishes. It’s elegant but bold with black cherry fruit, spicy pepper and a hint of wood smoke in the finish. We couldn’t be more excited and pleased with this wine.

Eguía 2016 Rioja Reseva
In the past 10 years Rioja has become an almost ubiquitous American-styled wine. What I mean is there’s been a trend toward using an abundance of American oak in the aging process. Enter Viña Equía. They craft traditional Rioja that exhibits old world styling and new world
techniques. Reserva is aged for at least three years, of which at least two years is in oak. This wine drinks like an elegant full bodied
Burgundy for half the price.

Domaine Laroque 2020 Cité de Carcassonne

I’ve had a not so secret love affair with Cabernet Franc for a number of years. This wine is all red fruit, raspberry, currant and cranberry with an abundance of wild garrigue. I love Cabernet Franc from almost anywhere, but this exuberant version from the Carcassonne,
home of the ancient fortified city in southern France, is fantastic and affordable.
