There are few beverages more refreshing than dry hard cider. This version from Normandy is crisp and delicate with lively dry fruit and a lovely bitter finish. It’s perfect for winter drinking. Try a Normand Kir also, it’s a lovely drink of French cider, creme de cassis and a dash Calvados.

Bottle 18. Glass 5.75

A lovely Chardonnay with lemon zest and creamy lemon curd flavors. This wine has a richly textured mouthfeel and a long finish. A great wine with shellfish.

Bottle 29. Quartino 10.75 Glass 7.25

Chateau Graville-Lacoste 2010 Graves

This is one of the first wines I ever tasted from the Kermit Lynch portfolio. I think it was 1985 and it just rocked my world. Every new release is like welcoming back an old friend to a dinner party you haven’t seen in a few months. This beautiful white Bordeaux is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. It’s lively and full of tangy grapefruit and lime flavors with a wet stone finish.

di Lenardo Vineyards 2010 TOH Fruiliano Grave

The di Leonardo family has been making wine since the 1800’s. In the 1990’s the family decided to use only estate fruit and updated to more modern wine practices. TOH Fruiliano is a medium-bodied wine with lovely stone fruit flavors and a hint of almond in the finish. A truly intriguing wine.

Bottle 24. Quartino 9.5 Glass 6.5

Alfred Merkelbach 2007 Riesling Spätlese Erdener Treppchen

What a treat to pour this Mosel from the spectacular 2007 vintage. An elegant Spätlese with juicy pear and lime zest flavors. The wine is full of zingy minerality and is a great pairing with Asian inspired dishes. Might I suggest Pork Shank Redemption?

Bottle 27. Quartino 10.25 Glass 7.

Rousseau Frères 2010 Touraine Noble Joué Rosé

Noble because it was a blend of 3 Pinots, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunere and Pinot Noir. The Joué because the nearby village of Joué les Tours was its historical birthplace. I’ve only tasted a few rosés from the Loire and they are all fabulous. This little quaffer is brimming with delicious strawberry fruit and a lip smacking minerality.

Bottle 24. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Tolaini 2007 Valdisanti

Valdisanti, considered a “Super Tuscan”, is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc. This luxurious blend spends 16 months in French oak and is full of dark plummy fruit with silky tannins. It could certainly age awhile, but with all the great reviews and my historical impatience, I gotta have it now.

Bottle 39. Quartino 13.5 Glass 9.25

Sineann 2007 Pinot Noir

This special cuvee from Sineann is available only in Ohio, thanks to wine wizard, Adam Mahler, of

ampelography. After our Sineann tasting and dinner, owner/winemaker, Peter Rosbeck, offered to private label his Pinot Noir for the Winds. I love this Pinot with salmon. This Oregon Pinot is a dark, smoky wine with a bad attitude…definitely more Puck than Finn, if you’re a Glee fan…also makes a great gift for Winds fans.

Bottle 29. Quartino 10.75 Glass 7.25

Duxoup Winery 2009 Syrah

Duxoup (say duck soup) is always a favorite around here. As is typical, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon is blended into their Syrah. The wine is a beautiful, peppery mouthful of wine, full of dark fruit and Dry Creek terroir.

Bottle 27. Quartino 10.25 Glass 7.

Alto Almanzora 2009 Este

Sourced from the little-known DO of Almeria located in eastern Andalucia, Este is a blend of Monastrell, Tempranillo and Garnacha with small additions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s full-bodied with dark fruit elements, perfect for casual small plates or if you just want a satisfying glass of red wine.

Bottle 21. Quartino 8. Glass 5.5

There are few beverages more refreshing than dry hard cider. This version from Normandy is crisp and delicate with lively dry fruit and a lovely bitter finish. It’s perfect for autumn drinking, also try Normand Kir, a lovely drink of French cider, creme de cassis and a dash Calvados.

Bottle 18. Glass 5.75

Apple and citrus flavors abound along with a distinctive chalkiness typical of Chablis, the wine for which Mr. Brocard is best known. This wine now has Chardonnay on the label, but it’s about as different from California Chardonnay as our Beaune burger is from a McDonald’s burger.

Bottle 26. Quartino 9.5 Glass 6.5

Adelsheim 2010 Pinot Gris Willamette Valley

With 28 vintages of Pinot Gris in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Adelsheim really “gets” what this grape varietal has to offer. 10% of the wine is aged in large, neutral oak barrels to add texture and a creamy, lush mouthfeel. The wine is redolent of sweet red apples and juicy pear. Lovely with any of our fall small plates.

This Robert Kacher Selection is a deliciously light wine from Gascony. It pairs well with many of our small plates, has a lovely floral and lime zest component with a zingy minerality. Tariquet has a long, interesting history in southwest France that includes a beautiful love story. I encourage you to read more at www.tariquet.com.

Hexamer is a relative newcomer to the Nahe and you guessed it, the soil type is quartz. Look for a clean, snappy wine, perfect for rock heads. You know who you are…always loving those mineral, slatey, stony thangs.

Bottle 27. Quartino 10.25 Glass 7.

If there is one rosé I could drink all year round, Mas de Bressades would be the one. Full of beautiful strawberry and floral elements and a restrained elegance, the cuvée is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. I’ve found it’s a wonderful aperitif and pairs nicely with grilled fish, garlic and just about any fresh vegetable dish.

Bottle 21. Quartino 8.5 Glass 5.75

Selby Winery 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the classiest winemakers around is Susan Selby. Not only does she exude class, her wines are a wonderful balance of fruit, terroir and elegance. This lovely Sonoma Cabernet is blended with 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec and is a classic example of Cabernet. Lush black fruit flavors along with bittersweet chocolate makes this one of the most compelling California wines around and the price is extremely reasonable in relationship to the quality.

After our Sineann tasting and dinner, owner/winemaker, Peter Rosbeck, offered to private label his Pinot Noir for the Winds. I love this Pinot with the salmon, but it’s rocking with the lamb chops. This Oregon Pinot is a dark, smoky wine with a bad attitude…definitely more Puck than Finn, if you’re a Glee fan…also makes a great gift for Winds fans.

Gianfranco Alessandria took over his family’s winery after his father died. They had been grape growers but at the urging of his cousin Mauro Veglio, Gianfranco started making his own wines to rave reviews. This Barbera boasts flavors of tart cherries and black currants. It finishes with a clean minerality. Spectacular, authentic Italian red wine.

These wines from southwest France have caused quite a sensation everywhere. In the past they typically have been bland, flat wines with little personality. This blend of 40% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc is a gem among Corbieres with lots of black fruit, leather and rustic herb flavors. To quote my partner “It’s very yummy”, but don’t tell everyone, we want to keep plenty ourselves.

Summers La Nude Chardonnay is produced from grapes grown in Alexander Valley bordered by the Russian River and Chalk Hill Appellations. The Chardonnay is all stainless, steel fermented i.e. no oak…i.e. la nude and very Burgundian in style. Full of fresh citrus with a crisp, lively acidity.

When I first saw the packaging of this wine, I have to admit, I was a little turned off…a little too flashy and finished with a bottle cap. Well, have I changed my mind. This lovely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is redolent of stone fruit and beeswax with a spicy finish. I love everything about the wine, the philosophy and vineyard practices of winemaker Gabrielle Simmers. An extraordinary gem of a wine.

Bouzeron in Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise produces only Aligoté. Aubert De Villaine is the foremost producer of the varietal and is an evangelist for organic and sustainable vineyard practices. The wine is mineral laden and reminiscent of stoney Chablis. A perfect accompaniment to Bronzini or any number of small plates. Love the flinty, lively nature of this wine.

La Gourmande is their introductory wine made from a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Grenache. Full of red fruit flavors and just a hint of rosemary and wild herbs, the wine reflects the smell of the countryside where it is grown. Rhone legend, Jean-Luc Colombo, is now the consulting winemaker for the two women who own Mas de la Dame. The changes are all good. Van Gogh immortalized one of the most beautiful places in Provence, the breathtaking vineyards of Mas de la Dame, with a painting in 1889.

Triton is a collaboration between the Spanish wine importer, Jorge Ordoñez and the Gil family (Juan Gil), from the lesser known region of Tierra del Viño de Zamora. Although the area is in the shadow of the more famous Toro, the grape varietals, climate and winemaking culture are very similar. Triton is 100% old vine Tinta de Toro. It is rich, extracted and a somewhat “international” styled wine with dark fruit flavors and a lush, silky mouthfeel. Fabulous for these first cool autumn days.

With all the international styling of wine these days, it’s often hard to tell the grape variatel of some wines with all the rich fruit and heavy oak. This wine transports me to the small cafes and tapas bars in Spain. Where the waiter suggests the house wine with a simple lunch and it turns out to be the most delicious and food appropriate wine you’ve ever tasted. Lovely flavors of black cherry fruit with rustic elements of leather and sandalwood.

I love Cabernet Franc. I love it as a blending component in Bordeaux, I love it in Loire wines and I especially love it in this California incarnation. Stepping Stone is the second label of the much more expensive Cornerstone Winery in Napa. It’s a blend of 82% Cabernet Franc with 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. While I love Cabernet Franc on its own, blending really takes this wine to the next level. It’s big and rich with dark fruit flavors and has a long, appropriately oaky finish.

That blasted Beaujolais Nouveau ruins the whole category. I love the cru Gamay and this wine from Thivin is one of my favorites. An old style, hand crafted wine with lovely cherry flavors and a violet, lilac perfume. This beautiful bistro styled wine is best served with a slight chill.

Sean Minor is making some of the best value California wines around. This new addition to the portfolio is a riff on a Bordeaux blend, California style. A blend of 30% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 17% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 10% Syrah and 4% Malbec, this wine is full of plummy, black fruit. A very satisfying glass of red wine.

This little gem of a Bordeaux has become my house red wine in the past few months. It’s a beautiful garnet color and pairs with just about anything on the grill. A blend of 40% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, Les Terrasses de Bouey fashions a wine with elegance and restraint that’s particularly lovely considering it’s extremely attractive price.

This special cuvee from Sineann is available only in Ohio, thanks to wine wizard, Adam Mahler, of ampelography. (Adam will be joining us June 17th for a “not to miss” special dinner and tasting) The wine has a pig on the label, but we think Primal is rocking with our lamb dish. Primal is a dark, smoky wine with a bad attitude…definitely more Puck than Finn, if you’re a Glee fan.

It’s substantial enough to pair with grilled summer fare, but accessible enough to wrap yourself around when you need a little summer comfort. Truly, truly adorable. Dolcetto with its bitter cherry flavors and a touch of almond extract in the finish is particularly versatile. Earthy, seductive aromas, but also very refined with a silky texture.

I love this inky Monastrell from the Castaño Santa family in Yecla, close to Murcia in eastern Spain. The estate farms these old vines organically and sustainably. Full of cassis and black cherry fruit, the wine is done half in stainless steel and half in French oak barrels. Truly, one of the wine world’s best values.

Calera has had quite a history so much so that a book was written, The Heartbreak Grape, by Marq de Villiers. The word that keeps popping into my head is lemon curd when I taste the Central Coast Chardonnay. It’s citrusy, particularly lemony with a cream texture. The wine finishes with a moderate amount of oak that lends an appealing, toasty finish.

If you are thinking a generic Mâconnaise wine, you better think again. The wines of Jean-Marie Guffens have a cult following around the Winds Cafe. Crisp and refreshing it offers an elegant, complex version of Chardonnay. This beautiful apple, citrus tinged wine is one of the grape’s finest renditions and about as opposite as you can get from it’s California cousin.

Although white wine is not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Spain, from my eating and traveling experience in the country, they drink quite a bit of white wine. Rueda is an up and coming wine region in the past 10 years, producing white wines based on Sauvignon Blanc, Viura and Verdejo. This is a delightful blend of Verdejo with a dash of Sauvignon Blanc. Condesa Eylo has a light straw color, flavors of juicy white peach and lime zest and a beautiful, lightly floral finish.

Oregon Pinot Noir in recent years, and with a string of very successful vintages, has become a real player in the Pinot world. Oregon Pinot is arguably (New Zealand may be the one arguing) the best produced outside of Burgundy. To make great Pinot you need to be a great viticulturist or at least be able to pay for some great fruit. A few years back Patricia Green left Torii Mor with Jim Anderson to start her own winery. After buying the Autumn Wind Winery she started making the wines she’d always wanted to make. This wine, christened Estate, is Patricia’s “entry level” Pinot, but I suspect when you taste it you won’t be thinking “Oregon Pinot Noir Starter Kit”. The wine is superb…full of varietal character, accessible with dark fruit and cranberry flavors. It’s elegant in the extreme and perfect for your sipping on these (hopefully) last chilly nights.

The grapes for Box Car were sourced from the cool climate Sonoma Coast.
Tasting the wines imported by Jorge Ordoñez is a walk down memory lane. I was on his Spanish tour in 2000, also know as the Death March because of it’s fanatical pace. I have never been so tired in my entire life, but the amount of Spanish history and food and wine culture Jorge shared was staggering. Juan Gil is a lusty little wine from Jorge’s portfolio with characteristics of rich, extracted fruit, a lush, sexy mouth feel and a flavor profile of black fruits…currants, cherries and berries. If you’ve succumbed to the winter blues and need a wine that is satisfying but not stupid, try this affordable wine from Jumilla.

There are fewer wines more delicious than old vine Garnacha. The vineyards are located in Northeastern Spain, close to the Mediterranean and Pyrenees. The road to the world famous restaurant, El Bulli, runs through the Espelt vineyards. The wine is all dark fruit, inky and satisfying with a soft, slightly oaky finish. As an added bonus, Espelt is farmed sustainably using organic and biodynamic practices.

Chatel Pinord Cava Brut NV
A blend of the usual suspects, Macabeo, Xarello, and Parellada, it is a light-bodied, refreshing sparkler. Chatel is perfect for celebrating. This is a Wine Advocate value pick from the August 2010 issue garnering 89 points.
Bottle 27. Glass 6.75

Mercer Estates 2008 Chardonnay
This Washington state winery sources the grapes for their Chardonnay from 5 different vineyard locations. The result is an elegant Chardonnay with citrus fruit up front and more tropical flavors in the finish. Stylistically, a great midpoint between a California Chardonnay and European white Burgundy.
Bottle 25. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Sean Minor 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County
It’s great to have a California wine of this quality at a very, very affordable price. Sean Minor’s Sauvignon Blanc is full of creamy lemon curd flavors with a lovely silky texture. Perfect with scallops, sole or just when you want a delicious glass of white wine.
Bottle 21. Quartino 8. Glass 5.5

Chateau Roquefort 2008 Les Genets Blanc
Wow! This is my wine discovery of the new year. Everyone loves Roquefort Rosé
but this blend of Clairette and Role (Vermentino) wine rocks my wine lovin’ soul.
Full of zingy minerality and lip smacking citrus zest, Les Genets is a perfect pairing
with most small plates.
Bottle 27. Quartino 9.75 Glass 6.75

Domaine de Nizas 2009 Rosé Coteaux du Languedoc
A brilliant rendition of Rosé from France that is the perfect winter time Rose quaff. A blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache Noir, 20% Mourvèdre with a lush mouthfeel and
an electric spine of minerality. Adorable.
Bottle 21. Quartino 8. Glass 5.5

Robert Sinskey Vineyards 2006 POV
Of all the wines I’ve tasted in my career, there are but a handful I remember distinctly. When you can taste the heart and soul of a wine, you can understand the commitment, the philosophy and determination of the winemaker… you can
taste the sense of place…the point of view. The Sinskey’s make these kinds of wines. They have heart and soul. POV is a Bordeaux style blend, a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Rob calls this wine a “right bank style blend – St Emilion with a suntan.” It’s a wine that begs for food and conversation. The wines have three different labels from Rob’s photographs. Collect them all.
Bottle 49. Quartino 16.75 Glass 11.25

Domaine Diochon Moulin-á-Vent Vieilles Vignes
If you are thinking Georges Duboeuf, then think again. This is Gamay with grip
and structure, not alcoholic Welch’s. The wine is loaded with smoky, inky black fruit
and plenty of backbone. One of my all time favorite Kermit Lynch imports and a
perfect counterpoint to grilled duck breast .
Bottle 30. Quartino 11. Glass 7.5

Sineann 2009 Red Table Wine
Not your usual red table wine, this blend consists of Sineann’s Old Vine Zin, Resonance Pinot Noir and Baby Poux Cab. You might think this is a bit of a “funky monkey” blend, but it is incredibly well integrated, full of dark cherry-berry fruit and just looking for some duck or beef dish to wrap itself around.
Bottle 27. Quartino 9.75 Glass 6.75

Les Hauts de la Brune 2008 Coteaux du Languedoc
I love this inky blend of 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 10% Carignan. The wine is dark purple with rustic brambly black fruit flavors and a spicy, somewhat rosemary- licorice finish. Great for what ails you on a cold winter’s eve.
Bottle 22. Quartino 8.5 Glass 5.75

Casteller Cava
This light straw colored Cava is my “go to” inexpensive sparkler. It’s full of green apple fruit with lovely aromas of baking bread. Why wait to celebrate?
Bottle 23. Glass 6.5

Stuhlmuller 2008 Chardonnay Estate
Stuhlmuller estate Chardonnay just rocks my world. It is rich and elegant without being cloying or heavy handed. Delicious flavors of poached pear with a spicy, almost nutmegy finish. Sure, it’s aged in oak, but it’s all lovely and finessed in this Chardonnay.
Bottle 29. Quartino 10.75 Glass 7.25

Chateau Lamothe de Haux 2009 White Bordeaux
I love, love, love this wine. It comes to us via our wine maven salesperson, Donna. A blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sémillon and 20% Muscadelle based on ancient tradition, that is rare in Bordeaux these days. The wine is full of citrus elements and a lively minerality. You’re going to love it.
Bottle 24. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Huber 2009 Grüner Veltliner Hugo
If you’ve never tasted Grüner Veltliner, this Hugo is a perfect place to start. Crisp green apple fruit with an electrifying minerality, this wine lends itself to simple or quaffing or pairing with smoked fish, chicken or pork. The flavor profile reminds me of a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and dry Riesling. I think you are going to love it.
Bottle 22. Quartino 8.5 Glass 5.75

Rousseau Frères 2009 Touraine Noble Joué Rosé
Noble because it was a blend of 3 Pinots, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunere and Pinot Noir. The Joué because the nearby village of Joué les Tours was its historical birthplace. I’ve only tasted a few rosés from the Loire and while they are good, I’ve never found one I’ve enjoyed as much as one from Provence. Well, I have a new favorite, this little quaffer is brimming with delicious strawberry fruit and a lip smacking minerality.
Bottle 24. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Crumbled Rock 2008 Pinot Noir Juliard Vineyards
Julia Staigers grew up just down the road from Yellow Springs. She and her husband, Gerard Koschal purchased a ten acre site in the Willamette Valley. The Juliard Vineyards Pinot Noir is a lush version with rich Amarene cherry flavors and a luxurious, silky mouthfeel. This is one Oregon Pinot Noir you’ll not easily forget.
Bottle 44. Quartino 15.25 Glass 10.25

Lang and Reed 2008 Cabernet Franc
This wine is a beautiful ruby color with bright red flavors of cranberry and tart cherry. With undertones of herbs de Provence, a delicate floral perfume and a complex, satisfying finish, Lang & Reed fashions an elegant, but quintessentially American version of this varietal. Anyone in America willing to produce Cabernet Franc as a single varietal gets a thumbs up and a big smooch from me.
Bottle 33. Quartino 12.25 Glass 8.

Paola Scavino 2009 Rosso Vino da Tavola
This gem of a wine is a blend of 40% Nebbiolo, 25% Barbera, 25% Dolcetto and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Say what? As you well know, I’m not much for wines that include non-traditional grapes, but hear me out. What you get with this wine up front is beautiful Nebbiolo characteristics…plummy fruit with floral elements followed by the distinctive tarry notes that epitomize Nebbiolo. The Barbera adds a bitter cherry note and acidity. Dolcetto is there but in the background with a hint of almond paste. As for the Cabernet, I don’t really taste it. The addition adds a bit more body and structure. I love this wine in spite of the Cabernet.
Bottle 24. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Montebuena 2009 Rioja
With all the international styling of wine these days, it’s hard to tell what anything is variatelly. This wine transports me to the small cafes and tapas bars in Spain. Where the waiter suggests the house wine with a simple lunch and it’s turns out to be the most delicious and food appropriate wine you’ve ever tasted. Lovely flavors of black cherry fruit with rustic elements of leather and sandalwood.
Bottle 19. Quartino 7.75 Glass 5.25

Il Follo Prosecco
I adore Prosecco. There’s just something about all those bubbles that just screams “PARTY”. I don’t mean party like it’s 1999, I mean celebrate, appreciate, give thanks. So relax, breath and have a glass of Prosecco.
Bottle 24. Glass 7.

Adelsheim 2007 Chardonnay Willamette
David Adelsheim is considered one of the handful of Oregon winemaking pioneers and his wines have never been better. This addition to the Adelsheim lineup is a 100% unoaked Chardonnay. It is an unusual style for the area, but really works. Delicious peach fruit and a zingy minerality, make this a perfect Chardonnay for cool weather imbibing.
Bottle 29. Quartino 10.75 Glass 7.25

Jean Marc Brocard 2008 Sauvignon de St. Bris
One of the overlooked secrets of the wine world, St. Bris was elevated to AOC status in 2001. Sauvignon Blanc is the only non Chardonnay AOC white wine in Burgundy. Brocard’s St. Bris offers brisk fruit and more body than you might expect. It’s a flawless pairing with most Autumn themed fish dishes.
Bottle 27. Quartino 10.25 Glass 7.

Charles Smith 2009 Kung Fu Girl Riesling
This is another wine from the man at K Vintners, Charles Smith. This is his everyday drinking wine, but don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing ordinary about this Washington State Riesling. It’s full of delicious stone fruit and loaded with a lip smacking minerality.
Bottle 23. Quartino 8.75. Glass 6.

Chateau de Roquefort 2009 Rosé Corail
I can’t remember a Rosé that’s captured the imagination of customers so completely as Roquefort. The Rosé is a blend of the usual grape varietals and produces the most crystalline and precise pink wines I’ve ever encountered. I dare not drone on and on about this wine, lest there be little left for moi.
Bottle 24. Quartino 9.25 Glass 6.25

Molly Dooker 2009 Blue-Eyed Boy Shiraz
This is Shiraz to the 10th power from superstar winemakers, Sparky and Sarah Marquis. Named after their son, Luke, Blue Eyed Boy is a rich, big-boned Shiraz, with luscious, mouth coating black fruit and silky tannins. As always, there’s very little wine available. It won’t last long.
Bottle 58. Quartino 17.5 Glass 11.75

Grochau Cellars 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
Grochau is a small artisan winery utilizing “hands off” winemaking techniques and environmentally friendly processes. The Willamette Pinot Noir is an expression of black cherry fruit with an elegant, judicious use of oak aging.
Bottle 33. Quartino 11.75 Glass 8.

Domaine d’Andezon 2008 Côtes du Rhône
I love traditionally-made wines, wines that are true to their agricultural, culinary and historical roots. That being said, I have been know to enjoy just about any sort of well-made wine. I love this modern-styled Côtes du Rhône. It goes with absolutely everything. Andezon is a collaboration between importer Eric Solomon and Jean-Francois Nicq. It’s 90% Syrah, 10% Grenache, rich, extracted, grapey, plumy and delicious to the 10th power.
Bottle 23. Quartino 8.75. Glass 6.

Castello Sonnino 2005 Leone Rosso
This beautiful little Tuscan wine is a blend of 60% Syrah (gasp!), 10% Sangiovese, 10% and 10% Ancellotta (say what?). It’s a perfect fall red wine quaffer. Red fruit flavors of raspberry and cherry mingle with the darker flavors of Syrah. It’s not too heavy but robust enough to offer a perfect foil to cool weather dishes.
Bottle 21. Quartino 8.5 Glass 5.75

Naveran 2007 Cava
I adore Cava. There’s just something about all those bubbles that just screams “PARTY”. I don’t mean party like it’s 1999, I mean celebrate, appreciate, give thanks. So relax, breath and have a glass of Cava.
Bottle 24. Glass 7.

LIOCO 2009 Chardonnay Sonoma
Maybe I’m jaded, but it takes an extraordinary wine to get me hyped up about California Chardonnay. Well folks, I can honestly say LIOCO is that wine. This is 100% unoaked Sonoma Chardonnay that’s harvested early to retain a natural acidity. The wine has beautiful lemon peel and tangerine elements along with a deliciously creamy finish.
Bottle 28. Quartino 10.25 Glass 7.

Argiolas 2008 Costamolino
Sicilian wines may be all the rage internationally, but the wines from Sardinia are not far behind in popularity. This is another ancient wine growing region with indigenous grape varietals. Vermentino is the grape and it produces a wine hard to compare with anything else. It’s very crisp and somewhat light, but has a signature aromatic quality said to come from the herbs that grow wild on the island. There is also a distinct saline quality of this Sardinian wine that pairs well with all sorts of fish, shellfish and many vegetable dishes.
Bottle 23. Quartino 8.75 Glass 6.

Mercer Estates 2008 Riesling
This Washington State producer is a collaboration between the Mercer and Hogue family, both long time farmers in the Yakima Valley. If you are thinking super sweet German Riesling, think again. Mercer’s version is tangy with juicy apricot, lemon zest, and fresh ginger flavors. It’s the ultimate summertime refreshment.
Bottle 22. Quartino 8. Glass 5.5

Mas de Bressades 2009 Rosé Costière de Nimes
If there is one rosé I could drink all year round, Mas de Bressades would be the one. Full of beautiful strawberry and floral elements and a restrained elegance, the cuvée is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. I’ve found it’s a wonderful aperitif and pairs nicely with grilled fish, garlic and just about any fresh vegetable dish.
Bottle 21. Quartino 7.75 Glass 5.25

Kathyrn Kennedy Winery 2006 Lateral
Kathyrn Kennedy was a true pioneer, planting 8 acres of vines in the Santa Cruz mountains in 1973. Kathryn passed away in 2009, but her son, Marty Mathis, has taken over and preserved the traditions of the winery. Lateral is a Bordeaux-styled blend of 54% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 6% Malbec. The wine is made in a very food friendly style. It is rich and extracted with beautiful black cherry fruit, silky tannins and long, luxurious finish.
Bottle 47. Quartino 14. Glass 9.5

Volver 2007 Tempranillo
This delicious 100% Tempranillo from La Mancha will be just the wine to get you through those last few days of work before your summer vacation. The lushly textured wine is full of dark cherry fruit with soft tannins, made for an American palate, but with a distinct Spanish vibe. Think Napa Cabernet made with Tempranillo. You might consider watching the Spanish film Volver by Pedro Almodóvar with this wine. It will make you feel a whole lot better about your own family dynamics.
Bottle 27. Quartino 10. Glass 6.75

Cru Club Co. 2005 The Rivals
This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon was put together by Kirby Anderson, of Gainey Winery and former Yellow Springs resident, Joel Williams. The wine has bright red cherry and plum fruit followed by soft tannins and a light oak finish. Delicious with every red wine dish on our summer menu.
Bottle 23. Quartino 8.75 Glass 6.

Montaribaldi 2007 Lange Rosso Tre Stelle
I love the wines of Piedmont, but jeez Louise, they’ve become so expensive. What’s a poor wine geek like me to do? Thank the goddess for Montaribaldi’s Tre Stelle, a very affordable blend of the main three grapes of the region, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Tre Stelle has a beautiful garnet color, exquisite red raspberry fruit and a compelling floral element. It pairs with virtually everything…especially lovely summer evenings.
Bottle 21. Quartino 8.5 Glass 5.75
