Slowing Down
Wow, that makes me feel like Harry Potter or someone who’s just settling in to their 50’s. Summer is in full swing and as I write this I’m about to leave for vacation. Last year I wrote about turning 50. No big events planned. It’s just another birthday. Turning “fifty wonderful” and the notion of being “in my fifties” takes on different meaning. Now I think about buying things with a “lifetime” guarantee. It’s not the deal it once was. My wine collecting is slowing down. I just don’t want to age wine I may not be around to drink.
I haven’t featured Sauvignon Blanc in awhile. Customers either love or hate it. Stylistically Sauvignon Blanc can run the flavor gamut from an oaky California version, more reminiscent of Chardonnay to an acrid catty style from New Zealand and everything in between. I’m fond of European wines, and particulalry, the wines from the Loire. They are close to my heart stylistically as they represent a sense of place so eloquently.
